Spring Has Sprung in Charlottesville
With the weather warming up, spring in Charlottesville presents the perfect opportunity to finally get out of the house with safe, socially distanced outdoor events and festivals, outdoor activities, and more! Here are a few activities and events we are looking forward to this spring in Charlottesville;
Hiking:
Enjoy the beautiful spring foliage and flowers by taking a hike! Charlottesville offers access to countless beautiful walking paths and hiking trails for any skill level. Some of our favorite trails around Charlottesville include:
- Rivanna Trail
- The Saunders Monticello Trail
- Trails in the Ivy Creek Natural Area
- Moormans River Hike
As well as many beautiful trails at the nearby Shenandoah National Park! Shenandoah National Park will be offering Fee Free Days at various dates throughout the year, to allow visitors to enjoy the park for free!
Festivals:
Sunny spring weather creates the perfect occasion for safe, socially distanced outdoor events. The Annual Crozet Spring Arts and Crafts Festival is the perfect Mother’s Day Weekend activity at the Claudius Crozet Park. Over 120 Artists and Exhibitors will be featuring unique handmade and handcrafted works of art.
The Festival of the Book brings readers and writers together for a five-day celebration of books, reading, literacy, and literary culture.
The annual Tom Tom Festival allows Charlottesville residents to get together with neighbors and new friends to imagine Tomorrow’s Charlottesville.
You won’t want to miss the Charlottesville Dogwood Festival featuring various events happening throughout April, including the Dogwood Carnival, Dogwood Eggstravaganza, the Dogwood Grand Parade, and much more!
Kids Activities:
We’ve all been cooped up this winter and no one has felt it more than the kids! Spring finally brings the opportunity for them to get outside, release all that pent-up energy, and enjoy some activities and events just for them. At Wildrock in nearby Crozet, visitors can enjoy an engaging variety of play and discovery zones nestled throughout the Blue Ridge foothill landscape. Wildrock also offers six sessions of nature immersion Summer Day Camps, with dates throughout the summer.
Outdoor Dining:
Outdoor dining is the best way to dine at (and support!) your favorite restaurant! Enjoy the perfect weather and delicious food with patio dining at Charlottesville’s best restaurants or a picnic at the many wineries in the surrounding area. A few of our favorites include:
- The Local
- The Hamiltons’ At First and Main
- Blue Mountain Brewery
- Pippin Hill Winery
- King Family Vineyards
Spring provides countless opportunities to enjoy everything Charlottesville has to offer, way more than we can fit in a blog post! The best way to discover Charlottesville is to explore it yourself and experience it all! So get out to enjoy spring in Virginia!
